Our products

BV1 Semi-Automated Clinical Viscometer

The Benson Viscometers BV1 Clinical Viscometer measures the viscosity of human biological fluids: blood plasma, blood serum, whole blood, and synovial fluid. It is an in-vitro analyser for use in a pathology laboratory environment by trained laboratory professionals.

It is a semi-automated instrument, for which the operator is present to process patient test samples, calibration, check quality controls, system washing, system enzymatic cleaning and system sterilisation.

The principal of operation of the BV1 is a capillary viscometer that draws a sample of liquid through a temperature controlled (37℃) calibrated capillary tube using a pre-set known force in the form of a regulated vacuum. The time for the fluid to pass two known points is measured and recorded. This ‘runtime’ is used to calculate the dynamic viscosity of the fluid

The BV1 viscometer can be used with biological fluids that are considered to be bio-hazardous by utilizing the ‘through cap piercing capability’ where the sample tube cap does not need to be removed.

BV200 Automated Clinical Viscometer

The Benson Viscometers BV200 Clinical Viscometer measures the viscosity of clinical human biological fluids: blood plasma, blood serum, whole blood, and synovial fluid. It is an in-vitro analyser for use in a pathology laboratory environment by trained laboratory professionals.

It is a fully-automated analyser. When the operator has carried out a simple daily maintenance program and initiated the testing procedure it will process patient test samples, calibration, check quality controls, system washing, system enzymatic cleaning and system sterilisation.

The principle of operation of the BV200 is a capillary viscometer that draws a sample of liquid through a temperature controlled (37℃) calibrated capillary tube using a pre-set known force in the form of a regulated vacuum. The time for the fluid to pass two known points is measured and recorded. This ‘runtime’ is used to calculate the dynamic viscosity of the fluid.

Calibration & Labels

Benson Viscometers has a quality assured calibration and check system, to verify correct system operation using UKAS verified calibration fluids.

There are 3 calibration vials – CHECK, LOW, HIGH

Additional system maintenance reagents including Enzyme, Steriliser, and Water Rinse fluids are supplied by Benson Viscometers.

We also supply control fluids in the range of 2.5 mPa.s and 4.0 mPa.s called the Control 2.5  and Control 4.0, please contact us for more information.

Benson Viscometers are able to supply labels for Steriliser, Enzymatic cleaner, and Water Rinse so they can be attached to the client tubes. Laboratories are advised to use our Cleaning pack for all of their maintenance requirements.

Scheduled Deliveries

Scheduled monthly deliveries of the full range of calibration fluids needed to run the BV200 or BV1 viscometers can be supplied by contract. This ensures they are fresh and reduces storage needs.

Whilst we strongly recommend a scheduled monthly delivery, reagents can be ordered on an ad hoc basis from us if preferred. Whilst every effort will be made to deliver such requests as quickly as possible, prompt receipt cannot be guaranteed.

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are available for all calibration fluids and maintenance reagents.

Partnership Contracts
Partnership Contract Information

Benson Viscometers has a streamlined process to integrate clinical viscosity testing into laboratories around the world.

We are able to offer a variety of packages that include outright purchase or rental contracts. These can include reagent service and maintenance contract requests that can be calculated and managed by our experienced team at Benson Viscometers.

Servicing & Maintenance

Servicing and maintenance is scheduled and carried out by our experienced field engineers who are able to assist with the integration and provide installation (for new installations) and refresher training for BV1 and BV200 clinical viscometer teams based in laboratories.

Benson Viscometers, using partnership contracts, are able to provide support and maintenance for the BV1 and BV200 clinical viscometers.

This can include scheduled engineer visits and starter training if required. We are also able to supply maintenance tool kits as well as replacement parts shipped directly to site. Our calibration materials are also meticulously scheduled to ensure that your reagent levels are always sufficient.

Support

Relevant support documentation is supplied by us. Our software is also easy to use and provides on-screen annotations to help you proceed. The instructions also guide you through the process of the simple but regular requirements of maintenance tasks which have been implemented to ensure the smooth running of the analyser used.

As a result of our excellent customer service standards our analysers have very little downtime but when downloading software updates or upgrades we do recommend that you contact the support desk to verify the correct system version.

Our telephone support lines are open from 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Please give us a call or use the Contact us form if you would like to find out more information.
